Located in Findon Village in the heart of the South Downs, yet only a short distance from both the A24 and the A27, John Henry's provides first class service, food and entertainment. Whatever the purpose of your visit you can be sure of a warm welcome from our friendly staff.



Our Location
Live music is a regular feature together with theme nights. John Henry's was, up until very recent years the working Village Forge, used by generations of local Blacksmiths to make shoes for the many racehorses that were trained at the 3 yards in the village. One yard remains with up to 60 horses trained by Nick Gifford and formerly by his father Josh. Racing fans will find 4 courses within easy distance of Findon these being Goodwood, Fontwell, Brighton and Plumpton.

There are a good selection of Golf courses, 5 within a 10 mile radius.

For shooting enthusiasts there is a clay pigeon and skeet shoot within the fold of the Downs about 1.5 miles distant. www.southdownsgc.co.uk.

On the surrounding Downs there are many walks with probably the best known route being the `South Downs Way which is 1.5 to 2 miles North of Findon.

The nearest town is Worthing situated on the coast 4 miles or so to the South it has an excellent shopping centre served by good public transport which includes a mainline railway station with direct links to London Victoria and London Gatwick Airport. The airport is approximately 40 mins by road.

Findon being bypassed by the main A24 road is in a good location for easy access to the historic towns of Arundel, Lewes and surrounding areas. The city of Brighton & Hove with its historic lanes for shopping, the Royal Pavilion and Theatre Royal together with Chichester to the West with its Cathedral & Festival Theatre all being well worth visiting.

1 mile distant from the village is Cissbury Ring an Iron Age Fort 400-250bc. This is a National Trust site and access to it is at any time. Worth a visit to walk around its earthen ramparts and take in the extensive panoramic views of the coastline and surrounding Downs.

For Car and Motoring Enthusiasts, at nearby Goodwood the Festival of Speed and Revival meetings are both annual events. The Motor Racing Circuit is also open to the public at other times. Also at Goodwood is the home of the new Rolls Royce automobile factory.

We are motorcycle friendly, offering a range of non-alcoholic beverages and snack foods along with our great value breakfasts. The location of Cissbury Leathers next door makes us a popular destination for a Sunday morning ride.
